Elif Aksaz Abstract This is an ethnographic study that rests upon a fieldwork on the Turkish immigrant families in France. In the latter, the assimilation criteria (in general for the rural population immigration which is a recent phenomenon) are considered as “alarming” and “abating” condition for the French society. Hence, this research is interested in the subjective dimensions of the behaviours of the Turkish families whop reside in France, and it seeks to understand the meaning that their practices reveal for them, and which ones that cannot be included if we neglect what is going on in the emigrants’ neighbourhoods. Thus, this fieldwork has been conducted in both areas of the migratory phenomenon, of the immigration country (France) and the emigration one (Turkey). © 2007- Merc- Final Report-Elif Aksaz .All rights reserved.
